ABOUT US

Trico Surveying, Inc., was incorporated in August, 1982 by Andrew "Cleve" Gillette, PLS. With the expansion of the surveying and civil engineering market in the tri-county area, engineering was added to Trico's services in 1985. Then in 1992, landscape architecture became a part of Trico's services with the forming of Land Planning & Design. This expansion enabled Trico to offer landscape architecture, land planning, and additional services in wetlands and endangered species studies.

Today, as Trico Engineering Consultants, Inc., the 133 person staff provides services which include civil engineering, structural engineering, surveying, wetland delineation, permitting, endangered species evaluations, land planning, residential and landscape architecture.

Trico's philosophy for success is based on providing excellence, both technically and through service to our clients and the community. The true measure of our success is in the satisfaction of our clients, with repeat clients comprising the majority of our work. It is our goal to maintain long-term relationships with a client base that shares our philosophy of offering superior products and services. Trico has performed its services for local government entities that include the Berkeley County Water and Sewer Authority, Dorchester, Berkeley and Charleston County School Districts, Santee Cooper and the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission. We have provided services to such federal agencies as the Veterans Administration Hospital, the U.S. Air Force, and the Resolution Trust Corporation. Trico has also provided services to private entities such as Gilbert/Commonwealth, Inc., Centex Homes, Beazer Homes, Lennar Homes, NationsBank, NBSC, and First Union. Our national commercial clients include Hardee's, Taco Bell, and The Pantry, Inc. We also have a strong industrial background with projects in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties.

The 133 person staff here at Trico provides a wide spectrum of services. Our primary services include Civil Engineering and Surveying. Trico's engineering staff, which consists of six professional engineers, three project managers and fourteen design team members, specializes in residential, commercial and industrial site development in the Tri-County area, as well as highway improvements, feasibility studies, flood plain modeling and the design of other miscellaneous infrastructure improvements. Our projects have ranged from providing a grading and drainage plan of a single residential lot, to master engineering a 400 acre or more subdivision to a single commercial office building site to complete planning and engineering of a 300 acre sports and retail complex.

In addition to residential and commercial work, we have recently added staff to help enhance our pump station design capabilities. Trico has designed regional pump stations to assist several counties in accommodating residential and commercial growth for the past twenty years. Trico's pump station design services have ranged from improving and upgrading existing pump stations to designing ones from the ground up.

In the process of master planning any project, we often tap into the resources of our Land Planning and Landscape Architecture group. Trico's Land Planning Department consists of three Registered Landscape Architects and two Land Planners, which carry a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree. Combined with our Environmental Services and Wetland Consulting Group, we can effectively plan, design and engineer any project that may involve fresh or saltwater wetlands, endangered species or even sensitive environmental areas.

During the process of engineering a site, our Surveying Department will be involved from the beginning. Trico's Surveying department consist of four professional surveyors, fourteen survey crews and a technical staff consisting of six personnel. Trico has provided forensic surveys, creek surveys, boundary surveys, tree surveys and topographical surveys for developers, property owners, attorneys, agencies and other engineering firms. During construction, Trico offers the service of staking corners and utilities, some of which we do on jobs engineered by other companies. Our staff has completed approximately 30 as-built surveys in Charleston County and the Town of Mount Pleasant and has provided and continues to provide, surveying at the Oakridge Landfills in both Dorchester and Georgetown Counties. We have also provided construction surveying for Gulfstream Construction Company, OL Thompson Construction Company, Sanders Brothers Construction Company, Cooper River Construction, Banks Construction, Centex Homes and Beazer Homes, to name a few.

All of our departments work hand-in-hand with local officials on a daily basis and maintain a good rapport with each and every entity. Our personnel has gained the knowledge needed to present and submit projects to the local governments to ensure speedy responses and approvals.
